Janine Cochran came to Beier Howlett with attorney Timothy J. Currier in 1990. She has been a legal assistant/paralegal for 36 years. She attended Oakland Community College and received her diploma for paralegal studies in 1989 from Oakland University. She is a member of the Paralegal/Legal Assistant Section of the State Bar of Michigan. She performs administrative duties for Timothy J. Currier in his capacity as Chief Executive Officer, and some of her day-to-day duties consist of:

  • Meeting with clients independently concerning various needs.
  • Drafting estate planning documents and taking necessary steps to assign assets to Trusts.
  • Handling the trust administration for various clients.
  • Drafting probate documents with follow through for decedent’s estates from beginning to end.
  • Drafting and editing motions, briefs, and other various pleadings for state, federal and appellate courts, and is proficient in electronic filing.
  • Assisting attorneys in the preparation of trial including discovery, research, exhibit preparation, etc.
  • Reviewing and editing various agreements, preparing resolutions and assisting in ordinance amendments.
  • Preparing Purchase Agreements, Warranty and Quit Claim Deeds, Deeds of Personal Representative, Discharge of Liens and various other real estate documents.
  • Assisting on the corporate level including, but not limited to, the formation of business entities, assignment of stock, filing of annual reports, and keeping minutes up-to-date.

She also has experience with software programs: Hot Docs, Summation (litigation support software) and Estate Val.
